Bonjour from transfer 4!
Wow I can't believe it's already a new transfer! And I am so so so glad that I am still staying in my beloved dear little Chambéry. I never want to leave this place, and it doesn't look like the Lord wants me to either! haha. My best bud Soeur Cherry got moved to Nice though :( She will do great there, but I sure will miss her. I am now training here in Chambéry! And Soeur Pagano is getting a brand new bleu, so we will have a very young house! It's interesting how quickly the tables turn. I was just barely in their shoes! My new companion is Soeur Gerritsen, and she is super great! I am so excited to work with her! To say I'm a bit intimidated/humbled/nervous to train this early in the mission is an understatement. I feel really inadequate, and nervous to have her relying on me for French. But, I know the Lord never sets us up to fail. He qualifies us to do what He calls us to do. He's putting His trust in me, and therefore I must put my trust in Him! As long as I'm doing my best, He will be with me every step of the way, since after all, this is His work. And His purposes will always be fulfilled through His worthy instruments. This will be a really great transfer of lots of learning and growth for the both of us! I am really excited.
So, to some up the last week here. It was quite a powerful week. It was one of our ZL's last week, so he had a "go hard or go home" week for the whole zone. The goal was to get our whole zone to reach the standards of excellence and get 20 lessons taught. And guess what? We did it! We worked our butts off, and it felt great. Our zone was "honored" in the newsletter this week, we were quoted in it, so it was pretty cool :) We were the first zone to do it!
We taught some really cool lessons this week and my love for these people just keeps growing stronger and stronger. One of our new amis, Nathan, really blew me away this week. We had asked him to read the intro of the BOM, and he comes in having read the first five chapters! And he loved it and loved how it coincided perfectly with the Bible. He then told us how he fasts often, and likes to go out into forests and pray to get away from the distractions of the world. He is progressing really well! Also, we finally got to see Bienvenue again! We watched the Restoration with him, and he loved it! He said he wants to watch it again, and the next time, he wants to take notes. It's so wonderful to see people making good decisions and coming closer and closer to Christ!
The weekend was spent trying to get Soeur Cherry to go see all our amis and members one last time. That was really hard to say goodbye to them; those people we had found together and taught together, and been with every step of the way. I am so grateful I get to stay here and continue on with them...I'm really dreading the day I have to leave. This really is a wonderful work that I'm a part of! I am so lucky and so blessed to be here.
I love you all! have a fantastic week!
Love,
Soeur Shields
